November 26-27  … ….Return to Be Tho

 

It is always with immense joy and a lot of emotion that I find my little protégés from Be Tho. The latest news is not very encouraging. The orphanage must once again leave the premises and find other accommodation at the request of the administration (installation of high voltage lines), while authorization to settle in the new establishment in Binh Duong (built in 2020 ) has still not been obtained. Negotiations with the authorities are underway to find a solution. This could take several months.

In the meantime, Perls continues to support children. On the theme of health, from now on a Franco-Vietnamese psychiatrist/psychologist will come to the orphanage once a month. Its mission: to identify children who need to confide in order to share hidden suffering or those with behavioral problems. Time will tell if these sessions will be useful or accepted. Psychological well-being is not yet a well-understood concept in countries like Vietnam. ​ Some photos taken during my last visit... Their looks, their smiles, their story constantly remind us of what we are fighting for.
